EPISCO DISCO!

Saturday night was the first ever EPISCO-DISCO! A Saturday night social in Grace Cathedral.

Post-punk and Jeep Beats provided by the talented Ms. Melanie Bee and myself.

It was amazing.

mat·ri·mo·ny - Part I: the civil edition. Photos by the amazing Mr. Van Swearingen, Esq.

In opposition to Prop. 8 - the voter initiative which outlawed gay marriage in California - The Episcopal Diocese of California has gotten out of the wedding biz. If we can't marry gay and lesbian people legally, we're not going to marry anybody, legally speaking. The state is entirely left out of the Church wedding, so if you want it legal, you've got to have a separate, civil service at City Hall.

Rahel and I have our proper Church Wedding coming up in October, and in accord with the new policy, we had our legal hitching done last Wednesday by a justice of the peace.

It's a bit like visiting the DMV, if the DMV were in a neo-classical palace.

This book is entitled 'Your Future Togather' - it comes with your marriage licence, and is all about health; specifically pre-natal health. Apparently City Hall is shotgun wedding central.

Lunch afterwords - at the Ritz!

Which had been rented out by a BBQ chain called The Texas Roadhouse for their annual manager's meeting!

The hotel smelled like BBQ and Merle Haggard had replaced the usual light classical on the sound system.

We're mighty happy.
